Multiple competitions
In the sport of surfing, you can’t get around the WSL. The World Surf League (WSL), established in 1976, is a global organization, that brings together the world’s best surfers across all disciplines to compete against each other. More than 180 global contests take part at the world’s best surf spots in order to crown the World Champions.
The WSL has chosen legends like Tom Caroll, Kelly Slater, Andy Irons, Tom Curren, Rell Sunn, Duke Kahanamoku or Gerry Lopez. Surfers who have had a significant impact on the sport and its popularity. Did you by the way know that all our luxurious rooms in our beachfront surf hotel in Uluwatu are named after these 7 legends?
In 2023 Bali will be the venue of two WSL surf events:
June 3rd - 4th
As part of the WSL Men’s and Women’s Longboard Tour 2023, the Padrol Longboard Classics will be held in Bali at the famous beach break of Halfway between Kuta Beach and Legian Beach. Due to how the sand builds up in this section of the beach long, mostly right handed waves provide the perfect conditions for a longboard competition.

August 1st - 31th
Definitely one of the surf competition highlights of the year and the best way to see world-champion surfers in action is the Rip Curl Cup in Uluwatu. 8 of the best Indonesian surfers will be invited to compete against 8 of the world’s most talented surfers at the famous Padang Padang reef.
It is definitely a surf event you shouldn’t miss if you are around Bali during that time. The exact dates will be announced nearer the time when the tides can be more accurately forecasted and of course, we’ll keep you updated.

Besides these big surf events, there are also plenty of small local surf competitions almost every week all around the island. Additionally, Bali will also host some other sports events on the island's beaches that are worth watching.
August 5th - 12th
