Reach the world-famous beach breaks and riff breaks of Pererenan and Echo Beach for intermediate and pro surfers after a short walk. You’ll find Bali flair throughout the design of our surf camp in Canggu. All the rooms at the Kima surf camp in Canggu, Bali are situated either at the natural stone pool in the tropical garden or at the massive beach pool with diving platform and bar.

Furthermore, you’ll find a 15-m-high natural climbing wall, a fully equipped 400 m² gym with yoga courses, plus a pool with counter-current system here. If you need to work while on vacation, our co-working space at the Kima Surf yoga & fitness resort makes it easy, with lots of space and fast internet.

ISLAND- LIFESTYLE

The island lifestyle design of the surf camp with the traditional grass roofs, 3 pools with a spacious pool deck, chill / sun lounges, the cozy restaurant areas with healthy juice bar and the sun roof invite you to relax and feast.

SURROUNDINGS

Away from the hectic traffic and tourist centres, you can completely fall into the eat-sleep-surf-repeat rhythm in the Canggu region with its many rice fields, only a stone’s throw away from the water. Enjoy the spectacular sunset with a cool after-surf beer directly from our chilled surf camp Canggu, discover the many shops and cafés in the area or enjoy the culinary variety and bars in the area.

Surf guiding

Surf guiding is included in your package price for the Kima Bali surf resort Canggu.

We organize surf trips for all skill levels to various spots across Bali every day, seven days a week. That means up to 16 trips for every surf level! We visit exciting surf spots in small groups, chosen according to the current, wind, and swell conditions. Choose from six different experience levels tailored to your skills. We recommend the five-day Learn-to-Surf package to all beginners. Lay the foundation for a lifetime of surfing in our in-house surf school.

Learning to surf in Bali at surf camp Seminyak is easy with our highly trained Kima surf guides. In the water with you, they always have tips and are ready to show you exciting surf tricks. The guides are familiar with every aspect of the respective spots, and which dangers to watch out for. Our guided surf tours are always in tune with the regional and local conditions. If the swell is right, we might even show you a hidden spot or two!

Sign up in the digital surf planner and select the sessions that suit you one day in advance. Our Kima Surf team are happy to help you with everything you need for a truly awesome surfing vacation in Bali.

We film and analyze several surf sessions. There are also six theory lessons a week. You can participate if you wish – these lessons are already included in your package rate.

Board rental

Board transportation by plane can be difficult and arduous. No need to worry, you can rent shortboards (5’8“ to 7’0“), funshapes, mini-malibus (7’0“ to 7’8“), and a selection of Beginner long boards from us. You’ll find the right board for all weather conditions and skill levels at Kima Surf. Lycra and leashes are already included in the rental fee. You have to pay for repairs or lost equipment yourself.

Insure your surf board

Trust is great, insurance is better. Surfboard insurance covers repair costs over a time of one to three weeks, from small dent to severe break. Experienced pros put your board back together. Please note that the user has to cover repair costs for lost parts and boards, even when lost in water.

Beginner Surfer

Find many semi-beach breaks with the perfect first green waves for beginners right outside our surf camp Canggu. There’s a special Learn-to-Surf package for absolute beginners.

Intermediate Surfer

Soft reef breaks and semi-beach breaks inspire intermediate surfers. Challenge yourself on perfect waves nearby and hopefully become an experienced surfer by the end of your stay. The more remote, famous spots in Bali will certainly challenge you as well!

Advanced Surfer

Experienced surfers certainly get their money’s worth when surfing in Bali. Together we head for the best waves around the surf camp in Canggu, including legendary Airport breaks, the classic Bali waves of Balangan and Dreamland or other world-famous spots, such as Keramas, Uluwatu or Padang-Padang.

Bali Sports Center

Yoga

The carefully sequenced yoga classes focus on a flow of exercises that mainly focus on toning and strengthening your body. We recommend aerial yoga classes to further improve your skills – traditional yoga exercises combined with strengthening elements from aerial acrobatics and Pilates.

It goes without saying that you can also book private lessons to individually improve your surfing skills.

Fitness

Various fitness programs guide you through your stay at Kima surf camp Canggu. Kima Surf-It, with its daily schedule and balanced variety of exercises, is directed at improving your surf skills, your strength, and your body control.

CLIMBING WALL

There’s even functional training and MMA at Kima! Our 400 m² gym and a wealth of classes work on your strength and your confidence. If you can’t be kept on the ground, we recommend the climbing program on our 15-m-high climbing wall with Trueblue auto-safety system. Climbing ideally supports other sports and helps improve your skills.

FREE YOGA

Daily yoga sessions are already included in the price for your surf vacation at the surf camp Canggu.

Surf break? Relaxation? Just taking a breath? Yoga sessions take place directly in the camp six days a week, Monday to Saturday. Work on your focus and balance, strength, and flexibility. Those skills won’t just do you wonders in your daily life, they’ll also help on the surfboard.

Enjoy 90-minute sessions for beginners and experienced yogis at the camp. You can also choose from different yoga styles, such as hatha, yin yoga, and ashtanga yoga. How about a private yoga lesson? Our yoga instructor will guide you through an hour-long private session.

FOOD + DRINK

Our camp restaurant is open every day from 7 am to 11 pm. Our internationally experienced chef prepares local and international dishes for you, exclusively from fresh ingredients, every day. We cook for all tastes and naturally have vegan and vegetarian options too.

Our delicious three courses breakfast options are available from 7 am to 12 noon in the restaurant. Free tea and coffee are available every day until 6 pm. Kick off your day with fresh juices and fruit salads along with pancakes as starters. Other options include muesli, and bagels and if you have a sweet tooth add some Nutella! To start your day with a healthy and refreshing option instead, choose one of our delicious frozen bowls.
For a savoury option, have a protein powerhouse breakfast of eggs done how you like. The best way to start your day pre or post-surf session. This is all included in your booking.

The cost of living is fairly low in Bali. Get healthy and filling meals (e.g. fish with sides) for as little as 3 €. The evening beer on the beach is usually the most expensive item. Even the most remote beaches usually offer plenty of Mie Goreg, Nasi Goreng, or fruit salad. Furthermore, you get to enjoy a wide variety of Western and Indonesian dishes at our Kima restaurant.

The numerous great restaurants in Canggu have adapted to western tastes, and offer excellent cuisine. Beyond international fast-food chains, you’ll find Italian, Greek, Japanese, Brazilian, Persian, and German places here.

UPGRADE TO HALF-BOARD

The half-board expands on your standard breakfast with a daily two-course menu at our restaurant in the hotel in Canggu from 5.30 pm.

KIMA BOTTLE & DRINKING WATER

Bali faces an increasing plastic waste problem. We try to keep Bali as free of plastic as possible with the Kima drink bottle and unlimited water for only 15 €. You can always refill your bottle at our water fountains throughout the surf camp in Canggu.

TRANSPORT

As a surf camp guest you’ll be out and about every day discovering the surroundings of Bali and the more remote surf spots. We use our many years of experience to head for the most beautiful beaches and beach breaks. We head for the best spots for you depending on weather and your requests – by car or boat, across the island, in small groups. You can enjoy at least 16 surf sessions per week!

The right social program makes your surf vacation in Bali truly exciting. We will gladly organize day trips to the island’s cultural highlights with you. Get to know Bali’s Hindu side – palaces, temples, and rice terraces – as well as its more modern side, with bars, shopping hot spots and culinary happenings. If you prefer a more athletic approach, there’s so much variety around your surf accommodation in Seminyak – on and below the water’s surface, while scaling a volcano, or on a motorbike tour with Bali Dirt Bikes.

You can also explore Bali completely on your own. Borrow our mountain bikes and vans (at least three guests) free of charge for tours and small adventures. Just let us know the day before – and don’t forget to refuel! You can also rent a moped with a board holder for a small fee at our surf hotel in Canggu. In addition, you can book your own driver who will bring you to the supermarket or ATM on request. Please note that you need an international driver’s license on Bali; the usual European and Australian licenses are invalid here.

We will gladly pick you up from the airport and bring you back in time for your return flight. The transfer (to and from) is free if you stay at least five nights. For shorter stays at our surf camp in Canggu in Bali we bill 15 € per person and drive. Please get in touch with our team as part of your reservation if your destination and pick-up spot is not the airport, but somewhere else in Bali. We’ll gladly find a solution for you. Send us your flight and address data at least 48 hours before your trip to have a driver ready for you.

TESTIMONIALS

That's what our guests say

This surf camp is perfect! I only booked for 10 days and in the end I stayed more than 6 weeks. I guess that says it all: I felt really comfortable and it was like a second family! The staff was super friendly and always helpful! I stayed in the private lodge, which accommodates 3 dorms with a private pool and kitchen and I honestly can say, that it was one of the best dorms I ever stayed in. The best part of course was the surfing! I started as a beginner and was able to join more challenging sessions in the end of my stay! The guides help you a lot and it’s always fun with them in the water! I almost forgot to mention the stunning breakfast, which is included in the price! I arrived as a solo traveller in Bali, but with KIMA I made so many new friends from all over the world! I had a blast with you guys and trust me, you’ll see me again!

Klaus

It was my third time to visit this camp in one year. That should tell you all about this place. Perfect in any way. Staff, surf instructors, food, people, maintenance... whole atmosphere. Last visit was in "off season" and again camp was full and we surf every day... Those guys Kima surf instructors they will drive you through entire island if needed to find waves. It’s awesome that the sessions are quite small and adjusted to your surf level! Every surf lesson is well organised and I like the app they using too! Now they added yoga, massage... so when you think it cannot get any better they just add something new. Really amazing place with great vibe and people. Coming back soon!

Dejan

Have any Questions?

HOW DO I CONFIRM AND COMPLETE MY RESERVATION?

As soon as you’ve filled in the online registration form on our website, your place at Kima Surf Bali is reserved. Payment arrangements are made through the confirmation email of your booking and, of course, more information will be given to you upon your arrival in Canggu surf camp. This reservation is binding. Canceling will result in a cancellation fee (see General Terms & Conditions).

HOW CAN I GET A CHEAP FLIGHT?

Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Europe/America to Bali; you will have at least one stop over. Cheap flights can be found through the following internet portals: Skyscanner, Traveloka, Checkfelix or Opodo.

WHAT AIRPORT DO I FLY TO IN BALI?
Your destination will be I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar (DPS), Bali. It is the island’s only international airport.

CAN I BRING MY OWN SURFBOARD?
Some airlines transport surfboards free of charge, provided your total checked baggage weight is under the usual allowance (20 to 23 kg). But please check with your airline beforehand as it seems to be handled quite arbitrarily (make sure they know it is a ‘real’ surfboard to avoid mix-ups with wind surfboards).

WILL I BE MET AT THE AIRPORT?
Airport transfers (airport pick-up and drop-off) are included for a minimum 5-night-stay in Kima Canggu Surf Camp. A small fee is charged for pick-up if you stay less than five nights. To make sure everything goes smoothly, let us know your exact flight details by email (date and time of arrival, airline and flight number) and your WhatsApp number at least 48 hours before you set off. Once you arrive at the airport in Bali, please login to the airport’s free WiFi and you will receive a text from our driver with his name, photo and information about the meeting point at the airport.

HOW DO I GET A VISA?
Please refer to our latest updates on visa regulations for traveling to Indonesia. At the moment visa-on-arrival is available for 23 countries. Please visit www.welcomebacktobali.com for more details.

WHAT’S THE CURRENCY IN BALI?
The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). The fluctuating exchange rate is approximately 15.000 Rupiah for € 1.

HOW AND WHERE CAN I CHANGE MONEY?
Lots of money exchangers will try and bait you with good exchange rates. To avoid any rip-offs, you should only change your cash at official P.T. Moneychangers. Make sure that you get your money changed into large notes (50,000 or 100,000). This is what legitimate money changers will do. Exchanging money is also possible at the reception of Kima Canggu surf camp Bali on Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.

CAN I PAY FOR MY SURF CAMP ON THE SPOT?
We require you to pay full amount before check-in to secure the booking. Credit card payment is currently not possible on location.

CAN I GET MONEY FROM AN ATM?
There are lots of ATMs in Bali where you can withdraw local currency with your credit card or bank card (Mastercard, Visa, Maestro, Cirrus). Make sure you know the pin number of your card(s). The maximum amount per transaction varies depending on the ATM, but the absolute maximum per transaction is 2.5 million Rupiah (approx. € 167). Several transactions can be done one after another. It is best to use ATMs inside banks with security guards to avoid scams.

HOW FAR IS THE SURF CAMP FROM THE BEACH?
Our Kima Bali surf camps are located close to the beach. From our Canggu surf camp to the beach is just 300 meters.

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY VALUABLES?
Every room has an electronic safety box where you can keep your cash, flight tickets, and other small valuable things. Larger valuables (laptop, photo equipment etc.) can be deposited at our front office. Our surf camps are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

WILL I NEED A PLUG ADAPTOR?
All sockets are European standard with 220V output. You may bring your adapter if your devices have other plugs. Every kind of adapter can also be bought here in Bali.

WILL I NEED A MOSQUITO NET?
Mosquito nets are available at the Kima Surf Camp Canggu, you can simply ask and our team will be happy to assist you with your request.

ARE THERE TOWELS IN THE SURF CAMP?
Our Kima Bali surf camps provide towels. These should not be taken to the beach, so please pack your favorite beach towel.

IS THERE BED LINEN IN THE SURF CAMP?
Bed linen is provided and changed regularly (with night temperatures of around 26 °C you won’t need a sleeping bag.)

IS THERE INTERNET IN THE SURF CAMP?
Free WIFI is provided in all of our surf camps.

CAN I DRIVE MYSELF?
During the day our cars are used for guided surf tours. In case you need them, remember to check the availability and please ask our camp manager on location beforehand. We require you to have an international driver’s license, third party damage insurance and a minimum of three persons per car. There is no charge for using the camp vehicles, but we kindly ask you to refuel before returning to the camp.

ARE THE CARS INSURED BY KIMA?
In the case of an accident when a guest is driving, the driver and all passengers must share the costs for any possible damages.

WHAT KINDS OF SURFBOARDS ARE THERE AT KIMA SURF BALI?
We have all kinds of different sizes and surfboard shapes for every level. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner, intermediate, advanced or pro surfer, we have the right board for you! Our surfboards are made of high-quality epoxy or polyester resin and for beginners we have the best soft-tops available in the market by FLOWT and OCEAN&EARTH. This means the best possible performance on the water. However, boards can be easily damaged if they’re not handled properly, in this case repairs cost must be paid by the user. For a small fee you can insure your rented board to cover all the damages. In the possible event that you lose the board or parts of it, you will still have to take over the costs despite the insurance.

DO I NEED A WETSUIT IN BALI?
The average water temperature is about 27 to 30 °C; leave your wetsuit at home.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SURF LESSONS & SURF GUIDING?
Surf lessons are professional lessons done by a certified surf school. Kima recommends surf lessons to beginners who have never surfed before in order to get a basic knowledge about the waves and first training with soft-top surfboards in order to reduce the risk of injuries and cuts. We offer a five-days (6 lessons) Learn-To-Surf package for all our beginners. Those lessons need to be booked separately and are not included in our room/surf-guiding packages. Surf guiding means that our professional surf guides will take you to surf spots that match your ability, give you a detailed spot introduction and be in the water with you to support you in catching as many waves as possible. Our surf guides will provide you with feedback and give you advice on how to improve your surfing skills. A beginner who is booked into a three-day Learn-to-Surf program can already join the afternoon surf guided sessions of Kima Surf from the second day, as the surf school lessons are provided in the morning.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK THE SURF SCHOOL?
For absolute beginners we recommend our five-days Learn-to-Surf package. This way you save a lot of time and avoid making mistakes that are difficult to straighten out later on. Along with the surf school course, you can surf a second time later in the day with our surf guides (depending on surf conditions). If you can handle a take-off and manage to surf to the beach standing upright ahead of the white wash, you do not need to attend surf school and your best bet is our surf guiding where you’ll learn with lots of practice. Our surf guides will help you and give you lots of tips so you can take your surfing to the next level.

DO I NEED MY OWN EQUIPMENT AT THE SURF SCHOOL?
Learn-To-Surf package at the surf school includes all you need for surf lesson: soft-top learning boards, lycra, towels and drinking water. For the surf guiding sessions in our camps you need to rent a board in advance or directly from the camp.

WHEN DOES THE SURF SCHOOL START?
You can start the Learn-To-Surf course any day from Monday to Sunday.

WHEN DOES THE GUIDING PROGRAM START?
The latest registration for the morning and afternoon session needs be done up to 8 pm the day before. Please be aware that you need to sign up in our session planner first. Nothing will stop you heading to various surfing spots once you get your equipment and do a briefing.

ARE BALI’S WAVES SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS?
The endless surf spots in Bali have the right waves for all levels. If the swell is too big at the beach, our surf guides always know other spots with nice little breaks for our beginners.

WHAT’S THE WEATHER LIKE IN BALI?
May to October is the dry season in Bali with an air temperature of 30 °C and 2 to 3 days of rain a month. November to April is the humid season and it rains more often, but mostly in the morning or evening, at sunrise or sunset. In between the sun always shines and everything’s budding and blooming. The rain normally lasts no longer than half an hour, but it pours down quite heavily. It can rain during the daytime sometimes, as the weather anywhere is always a bit of a gamble. Sometimes it won’t rain the whole week and then later it rains a few days in a row.

WHAT’S THE TEMPERATURE LIKE IN BALI?
All year round, the temperature in Bali is always around 30 °C. At night during the European summer months it can cool down to as little as 24 °C.

WHAT’S THE WATER TEMPERATURE IN BALI?
The water temperature in Bali is between 26° C (July/August) and 30 °C (December/January).

WHAT KIND OF FOOD IS THERE IN BALI?
There is endless variety. From tasty Indonesian street food stalls and mini-restaurants to Italian, Mexican, fondue, steak houses or cute little cafes. In and around Canggu you can try different cuisine every day.

WHAT’S THE NIGHTLIFE LIKE IN CANGGU?
It depends on what you want, you can either sip cocktails at a beach club or go dancing to house music. Around Caggu you’ll find a massive number of clubs, bars and discotheques so you can party all night long.

WHAT KIND OF CLOTHES SHOULD I TAKE WITH ME?
As a rule of thumb, you can go around in a bikini or board shorts and flip-flops during the day. In the evening when you go out to eat, a T-shirt, shirt and long trousers are a good idea as they also help against the mosquitos

WHAT VACCINATIONS DO I NEED?
You need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter Indonesia, please refer to our page with the latest travel regulations update. We recommend a tetanus boost (1 jab in your rear end), hepatitis A (2 to 3 jabs, starting 6 weeks before your trip), typhoid (oral vaccination, 3 weeks before) and, if you want to be on the safe side, malaria prophylaxis and rabies vaccination. Bali is classified as malaria-free. However, there are some isolated cases of infection now and again. Bear in mind that malaria prophylaxis has side effects on organs and mind. If you act wisely (repellents, protective/covering clothing), you can keep the risk to a minimum. If you want to travel further, you should find out the situation of your preferred islands.

WHAT’S MEDICAL CARE LIKE IN BALI?
All kinds of antiseptic creams, lotions, band-aids, etc. can be found very cheaply at local pharmacies. Medical care in the tourist regions of Bali is good and mostly up to western standards (hygiene, disinfection, educational standards of the medics, etc.).

WHAT INSURANCE SHOULD I TAKE OUT?
Please be aware that starting on 1st January, 2022, Covid-19 insurance is mandatory for international travelers arriving to Indonesia, please refer to our latest travel regulations update. We strongly recommend that everyone coming to Kima Surf Bali should have travel health insurance. Apart from treatment expenses and drugs on location, this also covers return transport by an emergency service. This insurance costs about € 20. A must for everyone and mostly valid for a whole year. As well as travel health insurance, you can also take out casualty insurance (hospital daily benefits or even a pension in a worst-case scenario) and travel and baggage insurance. For Australian guests, please check www.indosurf.com.au.
