Hosted by professional surfer Giada Legati, this exclusive women’s surf retreat combines competitive-level coaching, remote island exploration and the kind of surf adventure she would design for herself.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Surf two sessions daily with pro surfer Giada Legati, and experienced Mentawai surf guides, surfing the various waves that the Mentawais offer. With tender transfers and personalised coaching, so you can experience the magic of the island.
Refine your technique through personalised feedback, surf theory and video analysis with Giada throughout the retreat. Drawing from her competitive surfing background, Giada will help you understand wave selection, positioning and the small details that create real progression.
Your floating home for 11 nights, Malaika is a brand-new 38m two-masted sailing yacht exclusively chartered for Kima. With four decks, ocean-view lounges, daybeds, dining areas, a dedicated crew and space for up to 28 surfboards, she is built for life between waves.
Arrive at Minangkabau International Airport (PDG) in Padang, where our driver will meet you and transfer you to Malaika in South Padang. After an overnight sail, wake up anchored at a legendary Mentawai surf break. Your return transfer to Padang is included, with flights recommended from 1:00 pm onwards.
Enjoy three nourishing meals a day, prepared by your onboard chef. From fresh local catches and ocean-to-table ingredients to Indonesian flavours and aromatic spices, every meal is designed to fuel long days in the ocean. Unlimited water, coffee, tea, soft drinks and a complimentary crate of beer per guest are all included.

LIFE ON BOARD
Living aboard Malaika means syncing your daily rhythm with the sea, waking up to first light, following the swell and tides, and letting the ocean shape each day.
A typical day begins with breakfast as you watch conditions align, followed by your first surf session at the best surf spot on the given day. Between waves, enjoy fresh meals, slow afternoons on deck, snorkelling, fishing or exploring, before heading back into the water for a second session as the ocean shifts and shapes up. As the sun sets, unwind beneath the stars and fall asleep to the motion of the ocean that guides your next adventure.

A surf adventure this special deserves food to match. Your onboard chef prepares three meals a day for you, combining locally sourced ingredients, aromatic spices and the freshest catches from the surrounding waters.
Start the day with tropical fruits, fresh juices and a wholesome breakfast before paddling out, refuel with energizing lunches between sessions, and gather for relaxed dinners beneath the stars. Alongside authentic Indonesian favourites, you'll also enjoy a selection of international dishes, ensuring every meal is as satisfying as the day's surf.

This retreat is hosted on your own private sailing vessel, Malaika, a brand-new 38m two-masted Indonesian Phinisi built in 2026 and exclusively chartered for Kima. She combines the freedom of exploring the remote islands of the Mentawai Islands with the comfort of a curated retreat. Unlike a land-based surf trip, Malaika gives you access to waves, islands and experiences that are impossible to reach by road.
Spread across four decks, Malaika offers spacious areas to relax between surf sessions, unwind in ocean-view lounges and daybeds to sun decks, enjoy a bar and dining area where guests can share meals and stories from the day. With an experienced crew, dedicated cruise director and everything taken care of onboard, life at sea feels effortless.
Safety and comfort are at the heart of every Malaika expedition. The yacht operates under commercial charter registration with a licensed captain and professional crew, supported by comprehensive safety equipment including a life raft, EPIRB, Garmin navigation systems, Furuno radar, AIS, VHF and SSB radios, fire detection systems, first aid equipment and Starlink emergency communications.
The yacht features seven private ensuite cabins, each with air conditioning and a TV. Guests can choose between twin cabins with two single beds or premium queen cabins reserved for solo travellers wanting extra space and comfort — with no shared beds required.
Built around the needs of surfers, Malaika offers dedicated storage for up to 28 surfboards, two tenders for surf transfers and the flexibility to follow the best conditions across the Mentawai Islands. Terms and Conditions
- This retreat is subject to availability and may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice.
- This is a women's retreat and is open to female guests aged 18 and over only.
- The retreat is a fixed 11-night programme running 2–13 November 2026. These dates are fixed and cannot be shortened, extended, or amended.
- Places are strictly limited to twelve (12) guests and allocated on a first-paid basis until full.
- Accommodation is provided aboard Malaika in ensuite cabins, with twin cabins featuring single beds and premium queen cabins available for solo guests.
- This retreat is designed for intermediate to advanced surfers. Guests must be confident and self-sufficient in the ocean, including when surfing reef breaks. Absolute beginners cannot be accommodated.
- Places can be booked only via the dedicated retreat page or by contacting the Kima Surf sales team, and are not available as walk-ins or via third-party platforms unless otherwise stated.
- The price is a fixed package rate for the full 11-night retreat as advertised.
- This retreat cannot be combined with any other discounts or promotions. The loyalty program discount is applied manually by the Kima Surf sales team after booking confirmation.
- The package includes: 11 nights aboard Malaika, two daily surf sessions with Giada and experienced Mentawai surf guides, surf transfers by tender, personalised coaching, surf theory, daily video analysis and individual feedback, all meals prepared by the onboard chef, unlimited drinking water, coffee, tea and soft drinks, one complimentary crate of beer per guest, return airport transfers from Minangkabau International Airport (PDG), local transport in Sumatra, and snorkelling, fishing and island experiences when conditions allow.
- The package price does not include the Mentawai Surf Tax of IDR 2,200,000 per person, return flights to and from Padang (PDG), additional alcoholic drinks, crew gratuities, travel insurance, visas, or personal expenses.
- All guests must hold valid travel insurance covering surfing activities, overseas medical treatment and emergency medical evacuation for the full duration of the retreat.
- This is an expedition-style retreat rather than a fixed-itinerary trip. Surf spots, anchorages and daily schedules are determined by swell, wind, tide, weather and safety conditions, and no specific surf spot, wave quality, number of sessions or activity is guaranteed.
- The retreat is subject to a minimum number of confirmed bookings. Should it not proceed, guests will be offered a full refund of the retreat price or a transfer to an alternative date.
- Cancellation fees apply according to the Kima Surf cancellation policy. No refund is given for unused nights, sessions or services, or for early departure for any reason.
- All bookings are subject to Kima Surf's standard terms and conditions and the specific Women's Surf Retreat – Mentawai Islands terms provided at the time of booking.
