Imagine waking up before the sun rises, grabbing your surfboard, taking the boat out to the sea while watching the sunrise and catching the waves in the outer reefs. Could a day start better?! We would say No!
As Kima we bring you to the best surf spots daily. We want to create the best possible surf experiences for you and let you discovering all of Bali’s waves, even those far outside the oceans. On Bali’s east coast we have two jukung boats, small wooden Indonesian outrigger canoes that are traditionally used for fishing. But for us they are waiting to bring us to the outer reefs. If the conditions allow, we offer several boat trips every day, especially during the wet season when the waves on the west coast are usually unpredictable.
How a boat trip at Kima could look like
From Seminyak or Canggu Camp you’ll be driven to Mertasari Beach in Sanur area, where our boats are located. After grabbing a small breakfast snack like Pisang Goreng (Fried Banana) you’ll get ready, grab your board and head out on the boat. Depending on the spot the ride to the reef spot will take between 10-20 minutes, where you will be dropped. Now the fun can start: Jump off the boat and catch your waves!
After a while in the water our captain picks you up and you’ll be driven back to the beach where you can have a short rest and lunch before going either back to the camp or on the boat for a second surf.

Our boat surf trips are generally suited to our more intermediate to advanced surfers but as always when it comes to surfing, this also depends on the conditions.
Baby Reef Inside - 2 stars:
Baby Reef Inside is a great option for our beginners. Not only to scape big swells hitting the west coast but also because of long and steady waves from 3ft up to 6ft. The line up could be crowded sometimes but our guides will take care of you and find the best position with you to make you catch nice waves without getting stuck in a partywave.
Serangan - from 2 to 5 stars:
Located on the island of Serangan, this break is one of the best places to surf in Bali during the wet season. This spot used to be more of a secret break as access to Serangan island was not possible until a bridge was built over to Turtle Island in 1998. Since then it has only increased in popularity with beginner and intermediate surfers. Its powerful waves, both lefts and rights as well as its beautiful location is hard not to love.
Hyatt Reef - 4 stars:
After a long way from shore with our boat you can reach Hyatt Reef, a break for our more advanced guests. The waves are kind of unpredictable. A lot will tend out across the reef but good ones can come through and if they come, it can be a ride to remember when they offer big open, peaky barrels. A reward for a somewhat difficult location. Early morning high tides are the best conditions because of the shallow reef at low.
