The Rising Star: Sinar Tandjung

At just 14 years old, Sinar is making his presence known in the professional surfing world. Sinar was born and raised surfing the world-class waves of Uluwatu in Bali, Indonesia and he is the youngest son of Indonesian Surf Legend, Rizal Tandjung. Growing up along epic surfing shorelines, Sinar started surfing at a young age and his dad has helped guide every step of his surfing journey and he has now started to take his surfing to a competitive level. Sinar is the younger brother of Varun Tandjung and Bronson Meydi and Sinar often mentioned how his brothers have been influential figures for him and his surfing journey. Both Bronson and Varun are well known figures in the world of professional surfing. Varun Tandjung is known for his bold surfing style, and has been representing Indonesia on the international stage, he constantly pushes the limits in the surfing world and his dedication to the sport is what motivates Sinar.

Similarly, Bronson, WSL junior champion, is known for his unique style and surfing flair. Growing up with two successful surfers as brothers, has played a crucial role in his journey to competitive surfing. Both Varun and Bronson’s achievements continue to inspire Sinar, motivating him to make his mark in the Indonesian Surfing world.

“My favourite trip ever was going to Abu Dhabi and surfing the wave pool, it was so crazy surfing perfect waves with my family and seeing my mom surf for the first time.”

“ My other hobbies are golfing and cooking.”

“I get motivated by seeing my friends paddle out and it just gets me fired up to go and surf with them.”
