#1 Batu Bolong
Batu Bolong is the most beginner-friendly spot in Canggu, it is perfect for those just starting out on their surf journey. This is a mellow and consistent semi-reef break and it has A-frame waves, producing both right and left-hand rides, Batu Bolong has a whitewater section perfect for beginners to catch their first wave, if you take the channel to the lineup you can also access some fun waves for intermediates.

#2 Old Mans
Old Man’s is just slightly more advanced compared to Batu Bolong, Old Mans is also an advanced beginner/ intermediate spot. Old Mans is a semi-reef break that produces A-frame waves, with some long rides. There’s a good mixture of smaller waves in the inside section and more powerful waves further out, making it an ideal place for surfers to improve their skills. #3 Echo Beach
Echo Beach is a popular spot for surfers who are intermediate to advanced surfers, Echo Beach is a powerful left-hand reef break that produces long rides. This spot is known for its consistent, punchy waves, which break over a rocky reef, making it an exciting and challenging surf spot. Echo Beach can offer some of the more powerful waves in Canggu, especially when the swell picks up, you can even tuck into a couple of barrels.
When surfing at Echo, You'll want a board that is responsive and has control. For more experienced surfers who are wanting to take a more vertical line and excel their surfing, the Aipa Bishop 6'0" is a fantastic option. The Bishop was designed for drive with an arching rail engagement and a medium range pivot. The Bishop is designed for performance with a competition rocker and rolled bottom for speed on your take offs, it started out as a competition board and is also great for freestyle warriors. It is ideal to ride shoulder high to overhead conditions and medium tides. For high tides the Woo Cyber Funk can be a great option as it has performance aspects without losing forgivingness and speed to glide over flat spots.
#4 Sandbar
Sandbar is for advanced surfers who want to push themselves because of its steep, strong waves. This is a beach break producing A-frame waves, which are steep, punchy and less room for error. This produces great sections where surfers can perform big turns and advanced aerial manoeuvres. Sandbar breaks quickly and can get hollow. Sandbar has powerful sections which are ideal for surfers looking to generate some serious speed, and it has shallower sections that create ideal sections for barrels. It’s a spot where you’ll need quick reflexes and solid technique to take full advantage of the waves, making it a favourite for surfers looking to elevate their game. Sanbar is an exhilarating and rewarding spot in Canggu for advanced surfers.
Kima Surf's Aipa Dark Horse is great for this spot, this board features a progressive bottom contour, a reduced rail apex line, and mid-range rockers. A deep double concave between the forward fins is followed by a roll from the nose that changes to a single concave beneath the forward foot. Starting at the wing and working its way down to the tail, it then easily switches to a good amount of vee or double. This board has a responsive ride and has been shown to work well in a variety of settings, including strong Hawaiian surf and mushy waves at Pismo Beach.
#5 Pererenan Left
For intermediate to advanced surfers, Pererenan is a vibrant surf location in Canggu that offers a variety of difficult and gentler waves. Generally more laid-back, the left-hand break at the river mouth offers longer, cruisy rides that are ideal for practicing your cut backs. The right-hand break, on the other hand, is steeper and faster, with hollow parts that can produce barrels and hollower waves. The reef-and-sandbar combination of the break makes it shifty, mixed with the current from the river it can be tricky to hold your position which is why the right is more advanced, with quick takeoffs and hollow, barreling sections. Depending on the conditions, advanced surfers can enjoy both barrel rides and technical manoeuvres on this range of waves.
The Dark Twin Aipa 6'0"-6'3" is the board you should have under your feet for Pererenan. This board is perfect for navigating the swift, hollow waves at Pererenan because of its twin fin configuration and adaptable size, which provide exceptional speed, control, and manoeuvrability. Its design gives you the advantage you need to overcome this challenging area by enabling fast adjustments, tight turns, and fast rides. The Dark Twinn is responsive to steeper sections but also glides over flatter parts of the wave. More advanced surfers can benefit from the Aipa Bishop, if you can hold a more vertical line and stay in the pocket. Pererenan is a good wave to practice your maneuvers and is slightly more forgiving than sandbar.
