Balangan Beach

Balangan Beach is located slightly outside of the heart of Uluwatu, but still within the Bukit Peninsula’s scenic coastline. Balangan is known for its long white sand beach which is lined with local restaurants (warungs) and surf schools. The surrounding area has stunning palm-fringed cliffs and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a favourite for surfers, sunset lovers and anyone looking for a slower and less crowded beach day in Uluwatu.

  • Intermediate surfing and long cruisy walls

Balangan Beach - When to visit?

Mid to high tide is best for surfing as at low tide the reef is exposed, also sunset time.

  • A long stretch of golden sand which meets crystal clear water

  • Beautiful palm tree viewpoints above the beach

  • A left-hand reef break, producing long and peeling waves perfect for performing manoeuvres

  • Swimming can be tricky due to the reef, especially at low tide

  • All levels of surfers surfing here, so surf etiquette is important

  • Best surfed on a rising tide to avoid the sharp reef

Dreamland Beach is a stunning beach located about 20 minutes away from Uluwatu, it is easily accessed and a popular spot for both surfers and beach lovers. With soft white sand and turquoise water, it’s an easy place to spend a full day relaxing by the ocean.

  • All levels of surfers, but one of Uluwatu’s more beginner-friendly beaches

  • Easy beach access

  • Sunbathing and swimming

Dreamland works best on a mid tide for those looking to surf. For beachgoers wanting quieter beach time, the morning is your best bet and of course sunset time for beautiful ocean views.

Padang Padang Beach

Padang Padang is one of Bali’s most famous beaches, as it featured in the well-known movie Eat Pray Love. This is the closest beach to Kima Surf Uluwatu and is known for its beautiful rock entrance and world-class surf break just offshore.

  • Swimming and relaxing, there is an inside section which is perfect for floating in the water and watching the surfers out at the back

  • World-class waves as well as a beginner-friendly wave right in front of the beach

Green Bowl Beach is a hidden gem, it is located outside of Uluwatu and it is a small hidden bay known for its caves, powerful waves and remoteness.

Suluban Beach is a popular beach in Uluwatu, it is considered the main beach in this area, and it is home to the Single Fin Classics Competition. This beach is unique because it is only accessed through caves and cliffs. Once you weave your way through the caves, you will reach the legendary Uluwatu surf break.
