Kima Surf is a home for people from around the world to come together and share their love for surfing and travel. It is social, but not a party hostel.
Expect to meet people at the breakfast table, on your surf sessions, while playing volleyball and share stories over dinner and yes, sometimes head out for a drink or two afterwards.

You can choose your pace, there is no pressure to be a part of anything. Each Kima location has its own unique social scene, so you can choose the camp personality that works for you!
What Is the Atmosphere at Kima Surf?
1. Kima Surf Camp Seminyak, Bali
Kima Seminyak is right in the middle of Bali’s thriving nightlife, there are bars, pubs, restaurants, nightclubs, shopping malls on your doorstep, so if you fancy a night out you don’t have to go far.
At Kima Seminyak and Kima Canggu we have alternating Friday pool parties at the camps, we have a local DJ, great happy hour deals, pool beer pong and both camps getting together for a night out.
Our social activities also take the guests to a nearby nightclub known as La Favela and to the famous Mexicola. However all of this is up to you, join in if you feel like it, venture out the camp and get your boogie on or stay in the camp's tropical oasis and enjoy the peace of the surrounding tropical gardens.
2. Kima Surf Camp Canggu, Bali
Our surf camp in Canggu is in the heart of the trendy surf town, with options for what to do once the sun goes down to be endless. When it is Canggu’s turn for the Friday night pool party the camp gets together for a fun night out.
Canggu is home to some of the best beach clubs in Bali, Finns Beach Club is around the corner as well as Atlas. Our social activities include Wednesday beer pong tournaments at Old Man’s and a Monday boogie at a techno pizza bar called Luigis. Again, all optional to join.
If that is not your vibe the camp is quiet and peaceful, with many wholesome social activities too!
**Please note that our Friday pool parties alternate between our Seminyak and Canggu camps, with a party taking place at each location every second Friday. This keeps the frequency low while still offering guests the chance to join the fun. Music and party activities finish at 11:00 pm to ensure guests who choose not to attend can still enjoy a good night’s sleep.
3. Kima Surf Camp Uluwatu, Bali
Uluwatu has a different nightlife rhythm, there is no regular pool party here but there is plenty to explore outside the camp. From Sunday nights at Single Fins, to Tuesday dancing at Rolling Fork or a late night techno party at Il Salotto.
Parties in Uluwatu hit differently, they start as cliffside sunsets, watching the sun disappear behind the limestone cliffs with a couple of beers, and before you know it a dj set starts playing and you are dancing the night away.
Nightlife is there if you want it — but in Uluwatu, it’s definitely an optional extra.
After all, when the waves are pumping, you might find that your idea of a big night is being in bed early enough to paddle out at sunrise.
4. Kima Surf Camp Weligama, Sri Lanka
Weligama has its own easy-going nightlife, with beach bars, restaurants and places to grab a drink after a day in the water.
There are spots like Tiki bar Weligama for a more laid-back night, as well as other bars and beach spots around the bay.
At Kima Weligama, the social calendar is just as much about hanging out at camp, with group activities, communal dinners and BBQs making it easy to meet people without needing to go anywhere.
5. Kima Surf Camp Hiriketiya, Sri Lanka
Hiriketiya is your most tranquil option, your surf and yoga resort in the Sri Lankan jungle.
There are still restaurants, bars and places to grab a drink around Hiriketiya Bay, but the overall atmosphere is slower and more relaxed.
At camp, you’ll find social activities, communal dinners and BBQs — the kind of evenings where a few drinks and a good conversation can be just as much of an event as going out.
It’s less about big nights and more about good people, good food and enjoying where you are.
Kima’s Social Activities
Being social does not mean partying, some of the best moments happen during the day. It’s meeting someone at breakfast and sharing an afternoon surf. It is a shared game of volleyball in the pool. It’s sitting by the pool and sharing wipeout stories.
It’s movie nights, BBQs, group dinners, surf theory, yoga sessions and hanging around the pool and getting a group together to explore somewhere new. At Kima Surf Camps we host 2-3 social activities everyday for guests to get to know each other!
And sometimes, yes, it’s getting dressed up and going out together. The point is that you’re surrounded by people, but you’re never obliged to be social.
Who Would Enjoy Kima?
We get all sorts of people through our doors, but there is one thing they tend to have in common: They’re curious, open-minded and here because they love surfing — or want to learn.
Kima is for you if:
You want to structure your day around the tides and waves. Surf comes first and everything else just slots in.

Who Would Prefer Other Accommodation?
Kima may not be your thing if you are looking for:
A silent retreat, if you are looking for total seclusion and not seeing many other people then Kima may not be the best fit.
A full on party hostel, yes we do have parties, nights out and sunset drinks but if you want to be doing this every day then best find somewhere else.
Basically, Kima is for people who want a bit of everything — waves, people, adventure, downtime and the freedom to decide how much of each they want.
