Waves We Won't Forget!
As we flip the page on another year, it's time to reflect on the incredible waves we've ridden together in 2024. From our very first Charter in the Mentawais, and new additions to our camps in Bali and Sri Lanka, to exciting WSL events, and the Olympic games, 2024 was a year filled with excitement, challenges, and unforgettable experiences. With so many waves surfed in 2024, it’s time to look back at the year and dive into some of the highlights!
The Paris Olympics
We can't talk about 2024 without mentioning the Paris Olympics! It was the second time surfers could show the beauty of the sport, and they delivered! The Paris Olympics were a thrilling spectacle of high-performance surfing against the beautiful backdrop of surf spot Teahupoo. From Gabriel Medina's near-perfect wave that went viral to Kauli Vaast's triumphant home victory, the men's competition showcased incredible talent and great surf manoeuvres.
On the women's side, Caroline Marks emerged victorious, while Carissa Moore's emotional retirement added a touching moment to the event. The surf spot of Teahupoo proved to be a formidable place to surf, delivering both incredible waves and some terrifying wipeouts. The Olympics showed the diversity and global reach of surfing nowadays, and it was a big celebration of what surfers are capable of and the power of this incredible sport!
First Surf Boat Charter Trip in the Mentawais
Forget everything else—our first-ever surf boat charter trip to the Mentawais is a fact! Imagine waking up to the sound of waves crashing, stepping onto the deck of our luxurious boat, and fueling up with a killer breakfast before heading out to score some of the best waves in Indonesia.
From October 11th to 22nd, 2024, the Kima Boat set sail on an unforgettable 11-day adventure. Together with the winner of our contest, we explored the stunning Mentawai Islands, chasing perfect waves, discovering hidden coves, and enjoying the laid-back island vibes and culture. It was an experience we won't soon forget!

It might sound like madness to step into a bath full of ice cubes, but trust us, there's nothing quite like the feeling you’ll have after a refreshing dip!
Surfskate Haven in Canggu
Get ready to shred on land! Right next to our rooftop gym, boasting breathtaking ocean views in our Canggu Camp, you'll find our brand-new surf skate area. This 64-square-meter haven features a challenging ramp designed to mimic the dynamic movements of wave riding.
Practice your pops, perfect your turns, and build speed—all while enjoying stunning ocean views. Surf skating is the perfect complement to your surfing routine, helping you develop key skills like balance, control, and generating speed. Our surf skate area is your ideal training ground if you are a beginner or a pro. Improve your skills between surf sessions, or when the waves aren't cooperating, and get ready to translate your new skills into the water.
WSL Highlights
The World Surf League (WSL) has once again delivered a year of incredible surfing action and lots of highlights; we’ve listed a few for you!
John John Florence's triumphant return: After a period of injury struggles, John John Florence likely made a strong comeback in 2024. His powerful surfing and competitive drive would have undoubtedly been a highlight for fans!
Competition at iconic locations: The 2024 season would have featured iconic events like the Pipe Masters, the Tahiti Pro, and the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach, delivering world-class surfing in legendary locations.
Gabriel Medina's viral wave: Gabriel Medina's near-perfect wave at Teahupoo, where he was flying 3 meters above the ocean with his index finger raised in glory, and his board trailing six feet behind, became a viral image and a highlight of the season.
Lucas Chianca's Nazaré dominance: Lucas Chianca’s back-to-back victories at the TUDOR Nazaré Big Wave Challenge showed his incredible skill and bravery in tackling massive waves.
First perfect 10 of the year: Molly Picklum’s backside bomb in the semi-final of the Pipeline Pro, which earned her a perfect 10-point score, was a moment of pure surfing brilliance.
Biggest wave world record: Sebastian Steudtner's surfing of a massive 93-foot (28-meter) wave, officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the biggest wave ever surfed, was a jaw-dropping moment!
New Surfers in the WSL CT: The Future of Surfing
The WSL Championship Tour (CT) is witnessing a new wave of talented surfers each year. And 2024 wasn’t any different. These young guns are bringing fresh energy and innovative surfing to the highest level of competition! Names like Griffin Colapinto, Caity Simmers, Cole Houshmand, Crosby Colapinto, Sawyer Lindblad, and Alyssa Spencer are already making headlines, showing their power, determination, technicality, and a deep understanding of wave riding. This introduction of young talent promises an exciting future for the WSL in 2025!
