Bali Surf Trip Budget

How Much Does a Day in Bali Cost?

If you have booked your stay at Kima Surf Camps in Bali you are already on the right track, all that may be left to consider is how much money you’ll be spending each day on your surf trip in Bali?

One of the advantages of staying with Kima is that many travel essentials are already included in your Kima package, so you can just sit back and relax. Most of your daily Bali budget is just about the extras, where you eat, how far you explore and how you spend your time between surf sessions.

So, how much spending money do you actually need for your surf trip to Bali? We’ve broken down the every day costs so you can work out what feels right for you.

Firstly, What Is Included at Kima?

Before we calculate your daily budget, if you are staying with Kima Surf Camps you are not starting from zero. Your Kima package has lots of inclusions that you can leave out.

Your Kima Package includes:

Breakfast is taken care of and as for lunch and dinner either enjoy a range of cuisines on our camp a la carte menu, or dine at some of Bali’s trendy restaurants, or even save a bit and enjoy a local meal. Your spending budget is flexible and completely up to you.

Your Daily Budget in Bali

Bali is great because it suits a range of budgets and how you choose to spend your money is up to you. There is no ‘right amount’ to spend, it all depends on your travel style. Here is a guide to help you choose which budget feels like the best fit for you.

Keep it Simple

This budget is for you if you’re happy to keep your days simple, relaxed and local. With your breakfast and surf sessions already included at Kima, you can spend most of your time surfing, hanging around the camp and enjoying Bali without spending too much. A typical day might include:

  • Breakfast at Kima
  • Two surf sessions
  • A coffee or smoothie
  • Lunch at a local warung
  • A few short Grab or Gojek rides
  • A day by the pool or joining one of Kima’s free social activities
  • Sunset with the Kima crew
  • A beer or two from a beach vendor
  • Dinner at Kima or some local street food

If you’re spending most of your day surfing, relaxing around camp and heading out for the occasional coffee, sunset beer or local meal, you can comfortably spend around 250,000 – 400,000 IDR a day (roughly €12–€20).

A Comfortable Day in Bali

If you want to experience more of what Bali has to offer beyond its waves, then this budget is most likely for you! Maybe you want to try one of the area’s trendy cafes or restaurants, take a grab or gojek to some nearby temples or beaches, and even treat yourself to a massage or fun experience. Here is what a typical day could include:

  • Breakfast at Kima
  • Two surf sessions
  • A good coffee at a local café
  • Lunch somewhere outside Kima
  • A few Grab or Gojek rides a bit further away, to temples or beaches
  • A smoothie or afternoon snack
  • A massage or wellness activity ( ice bath, sauna, pilates etc)
  • A sunset beer or drink
  • Dinner at Kima or a local restaurant

If this day sounds pretty good, expect to budget around 500,000–900,000 IDR a day (That’s roughly €24–€44 per day).

A Treat Yourself Day in Bali

This budget is for you if you’re wanting to indulge a bit, maybe it’s a few cocktails at a beach club, or a big night out, or it is a bit of shopping, eating out at more fine dining spots and a full body treatment. Here is what a typical day looks like:

  • Breakfast at Kima
  • Two surf sessions
  • Specialty coffee and brunch
  • Lunch at a nice restaurant
  • Exploring Bali by Grab or Gojek, visiting surrounding areas
  • A massage or wellness treatment
  • Shopping or an afternoon activity
  • Sunset drinks
  • Dinner at a restaurant
  • A few extra drinks or snacks

With around 1,000,000–1,500,000+ IDR a day, you have much more flexibility to eat out, explore and treat yourself (That’s roughly €49–€73+ per day).
